Do any of you use a database to organize information regarding each of your clients, other than the standard name, telephone, and address. Im looking for something fairly comprehensive and adaptable, preferably written in mySQL or SQL.

off the shelf... Goldmine or ACT. I use ACT. It customizable for the data entry. Reminders for warranty or maintenance expiry. Syncs to outlook and Winfax. Nice product.

I keep pretty simple records. I use a triplicate work order form on each job, make a workorder on the computer in Word, and keep a spreadsheet of the customer name, date of work, and amount paid.

We use Tiger Paw. It does a lot, but for me it was a little hard to get used to.

Rustynails
We have used several over the years. Started with PhoneBiz then when we integrated that with QuickBooks and as of a year ago we went with the full suite of TigerPaw as well. We are now working to deploy wireless access to all our techs laptops so they can do tickets realtime at the customer sight. Not to mention all the other benifits. TigerPaw runs from a SQL server if I am not mistaken.
