Anyone care to enlighten me regarding adding MOH to an existing SX-200 installation?
1. Via connector or hardwire?
2. Connector type, if applicable?
3. Connector / Hardwire location?
4. Hardwire cable pair, if applicable?
5. Programming necessary?
Thanks!

Thank for the reply.
You mentioned:
1. An "el"? Is this a series of SX-200?
2. An "ons" port? Does that mean "options"?
Didn't really pick up on the direction in which you were trying to point me...
By the way, forgot to mention it is Generic 1000 S/W.

there are at least 6 versions of the 200 out there thats why you need to be specific 200 analog 200 ,digital 200, ml 200 ,el 200 light and the 200 icp .its a 200 digital that you have it goes on the universal card i think but you may want to read the docs to be sure ons = single line telephone ext

Thanks for the information.
I'm obviously at a disadvantage here as we do not have a Mitel technician on staff. We've just been subcontracted to add one of those message on hold units to this existing system.
Anyway, is the common control equipment normally clearly marked as to which version or type of SX-200? Any identifying information we should look for during a site survey other than what you listed?
Re "ons", is this a Mitel term for single line extension port? I've been in this business for over 25 years and never come across that abbreviation / ackronym. Just curious...
Thanks again!

since you said G1000(1) then probably it's a 200Digital. (Big tan cabinet that says sx-200 digital, same goes if it looks like a tower PC, if looks like a microwave oven, maybe you can use an ONS) Usually MOH is wired to the universal card's MOH module. You need to find the bay slot and circuit of your universal card with the MOH module.

Doctor Dialtone,
Go into programming -- laptop, VT-100, or from the console, doesn't matter -- and select CDE (Customer Data Entry) then look in form 1 (configuration).
Look for a "UNIVERSAL CARD." If it exists, look immediate below and see if there is a MOH module connected to it.
If so, find the pair corresponding to the module's MOH connection, and connect your source there.
If there's no universal card, or a universal card but no MOH module, you will need one. CAUTION: Universal cards are NOT hot-swappable. Many Mitel cards can be hot-swapped; Universals are NOT among them. You must power down to add a Universal card and/or MOH module.
If there is a MOH module existing in the system, chances are that you'll find an RCA-type cable already cross-connected onto the MDF and dangling loose. This will give you an excellent clue as to which pair to use.

Thank you all! We'll do a site survey and check out the situation. I'm surprised they don't have a regular vendor.
