Hi,

I wanted to know if anyone has connected to the Mitel 3300 or 200 ICP systems using a laptop with Microsoft Vista yet. If someone out there has done so, what was the outcome? Does it work, does it not?
If nobody knows yet, I will let you know once I find out.
Thank you.

Respectfully,
MitelTech

I can vouch for the 200 ICP on Win2K and XP, but not Vista. I usually use ProComm on the serial port.

Hi we have an update.

The following works with Vista in regards to an SX200ICP.

EDocs
GuildFTP server
GuildFTP Server backups
Telnet connection
Web Browser Connection (Internet Explorer was used for the test, can't vouch for other browsers)

What doesn't seem to work at this time, as far as we know.
No Hyperterminal or Procomm at the moment.
We can't uses these to connect with a serial connection because we have not found a solution to do so without any COM ports. Windows Vista has no COM ports at this time.

Just what we found out so far. If we can get a serial connection to work, we will pass on the information.

Respectfully,

Spoke to some folks and did some research...

Apparently Windows Vista discontinues Hyperterminal as an installed component, and offers telnet as a replacement (which isn't a terminal emulator). But I am told that if Vista is installed on a PC which previously had XP installed, you can use the old hyperterminal exe/dll, and it will run under Vista as a stand-alone.

Also, while many PCs with Vista do not have an HTG serial port (HTG serial ports are in short supply these days) those that do will recognize it for cable-to-cable connection and other functions.

Also, Hilgraeve (the original designers / licensers of Hyperterminal) offer Hyperterminal Private Edition (HPTE), which should run under Vista. You can get it at their website.

But I haven't seen it work, and the proof is in the pudding, as they say...

I'm sure that eventually someone will produce a terminal emulator made specifically for Vista.

Hope that helps...

I've found a few bugs. Like expanding the screen... I haven't tried the 200, but the 3300 other than that seems ok. I'm running a dual boot xp, vista. Seems its more of a compatibility with IE7 more than anything.
