We've got an older Mitel SX-200 that seems to be on the fritz lately. Some of their superset 4's have been randomly redialing. One of their managers got a call from the hotel at 3 a.m. only it wasn't an employee calling.

We thought it was only a few of the phones with their Redial buttons possibly shorting out and causing it, as the numbers that were being dialed had been called ealier in the day. Today we came to find out the problem is spreading among all the superset 4s.

Stumped on this one.

You only say an older SX 200. Is this an old anoalog machine or is it a SX 200 digital?

The Digital Lights do support SS 4 and 4DN, but I think this is probably an analog. Does it look more like a "Tower" PC or an old refrigerator?

Are these supported off of a COV card, or a DNIC card? In either case, try reseating the card. If no improvement, try replacing the card (is the problem just with one card? Analogs typically have very few digital ports available).

Spreading among all the SS4's OR same person trying to use all the SS4's? SS's doing timed redial that is stretched wwaaayy out time-wise? (Or trunk shortage that makes it seem so.) This ought to be an interesting one. Do keep us informed, please! John C.

When the Superset 4's start doing "crazy" things, 90% of the time, it's the back door power supply. Once the 8 volts starts to go, it's time for a replacement.

I work with Ryan. Here is some more information. It is a digital system, VM is Telekol 2000 TMP, hotel/motel package(generic 1005). 5 exts with SS 4's randomly redialing. They just called about a few missed wake up calls on Saturday. First time this happened.

Certainly could be a back door power supply, but on especially on the digitl hybrids and 50's I have done reboots that have cleared these kind of problems. Files seem to get corrupted somehow on the ram module and this takes care of it. Obvioulsy you want to make sure you have back-up disks and do a system back-up before you reboot. If it weren't for the missed wake-ups I might think it could be the voice mail. BTW - 8 and 10 volts going on the ower supply could cause flaky info to be written to the disks on the Wake-up info.

Good luck
