I am haveing increasing number of tech's telling me they are installing a system enabling PMS and a few weeks or months down the road Maid status is not working and when we investigate PMS is Disabled and Lodging is Enabled. I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this problem.
Thank You Alex

This is an ICP, using the Property MAnagement Option in form 4 (option 108).
Options 108 and 107 are mutually exclusive, and the only way to swap them would be to either manually do it, or to restore a database with the wrong setting selected.
Throughout programming, and once the system is completely installed, I make backups. I use a 4-letter property code, and a 4-digit date code (YMDD). My guess here is that, in the original system design, the systems are being programmed up with option 107 enabled, and then, at the last minute, you realize that you need a PMS interface, so you enable option 108, instead.
Then, at some later point, some onsite tech makes a programming mistake, and tries to cover it up by reloading a prior saved database (one with 107, vice 108, enabled).
Does it always happen to the same tech? Or on the same sites?
The other possiblity is that no one is checking programming on these systems before they go onto the wall.

200 ICP PMS 108 was enabled and tested before leaving site from one of our top tech's He only handles the site and a few month's later 107 was enabled, when called out to troubleshoot Maid status.I will research the backup issue.
Different tech's with Different sites around the country.
I know this sounds stupid I have never heard of a Mitel just changing system options without someone interacting with it. But the tech's I am dealing with are good tech's.
Thanks for your input, I appreciate it

How long have these been in place and are you having problems with very recent installs? What I'm getting at is someone that WAS in your organization is going in via remote and messing with the systems. Consider PW change on all systems, NOW! This could get messy if I'm guessing correctly. BEEN THERE! John C.

Somebody changing Lodging and PMS options because they dont know what PMS stands for and according to their knowlage, if there any problems with PMS, they go in, see Lodging Disable, try to Enable it and Mitel responded Options 107 and 108 are mutually exclusive, make their choice. Turn off PMS,cause have no idea what it is, and Enable Lodging.

Alex,
Didn't mean to disparage your techs, but as an outsider, it's the first thing I'd suspect. But I think Lightninghorse may be right. A P/W change, across the board, would be an excellent idea.
I kinda think that if unauthorized techs were getting in for malicious purposes, they'd do more than change 107/108, but it would explain the known facts.

I have never heard of what I am about to suggest causing this problem, but one never knows so here goes. Do you have PMS logs disabled? I do know that failure to do this on other systems will cause all kind of havoc with the system if they build up to a high enough number (and this can happen over time just as a normal course of events). Anyway would be nice to know what you eventually find out was causing the problem.

Dane, PMS logs? Maybe I call it something else, but it rings no bell in this dunderhead. Nevertheless, AKroger, what is the latest? Don't leave us twisting in the wind! John C.
