I have 2 SX-2000’s networked via 2 MSDN links with a NuPoint 9 (9.0.2.12 Rev 1) integrated via PIMG on switch 1. I had a problem in June where the msg lights were delayed some times for hours. The call log of the PIMG showed “SNW: Device Not Available” for the stations on the remote switch. Tech Support had me set Suppress Message Light Update to YES. This seemed to solve the problem.
Now during normal activity, most MWI Set and Clear works well, when I refresh a series of sets on the remote switch MWI Set works, but MWI Clear returns “SNW: Device Not Available.” It will continually retry to clear the unavailable sets around a dozen times. The call duration for a normal clear is around 5 seconds, the failed clear takes around 10 seconds. I had increased the Message waiting ports to 5 on 3 different PIMGs. I thought the 5 MW ports may be overloading the MSDN trunks, but the MWI sets normal between the MWI clear failures. I have plugged a 430 set into a MW port and was able to set and clear normally during these failures.

I will be in tomorrow trying new MWI Set codes, less MW ports. Any other suggestions appreciated.

Here is the configuration:
Switch 1 SX-2000 34.1.0.6
Switch 2 SX-2000 34.2.0.20

Desc Protocol Card Dual Far End
Switch 1 MSDN-DPNSS DS1 Outgoing Main PBX
Switch 2 NSU MSDN-DPNSS Universal T1 Incoming Main PBX

Message Activate *21
Message Deactivate *22

This appears to have been the cause;

MN00166585 - Error displayed when calling across MSDN
REPORTED IN SW LOAD - 33.2.2.6

SYMPTOMS
Site intermittently cannot call across MSDN to another SX2000 redundant controller. The words ERROR is displayed on the display set, as well as reorder tone heard in the handset. This problem occurs under heavy traffic periods.

Loaded 34.2 UR5 and have not had any problems.
