Had to upgrade my software and control card to ms55 and control card 2, for my hotel, system up and running but cannot get the sx50 to communicate properly with ez call a matic (older white one), was working fine before change out, if I try sending info out, example: wake up call, the screen on the callamatic flickers but does not send to print, already change out cable from smdr port to callamatic, changed the settings in sx50 command 100 reg. 16., the cable uses the 2,3 and 7 pins, connected a rs232 tester to smdr port and got lights. The printer and callamatic are working fine, every hr. it prints no call made in last hr. just pbx to call accounting not in sync. is there another register or command function that needs to be programmed? is there something I'm missing. or is the new control card maybe bad? please help.....

Don't really need pin 2 at all. 50 puts out info on pin three and EZ receives on pin 3. You said that tester has lights. When you make a call if light 2 is flickering instead of 3 then there is your problem. However if you are using the same cable then it should not be an issue. Suggest you hook SMDR cale up directly to printer if you have a serial port printer and see if you get anything.

You didn't mention anything about the printer port settings. Are both the SX50 and call accounting set to the same speed, bits, and parity?

the printer settings are proper, the printer and call accounting system are communicating properly, just a question of the sx50 to callamatic, i have tried every baud setting, parity setting and bit setting but nothing, originally when something was sent out of the smdr to call accounting, it would show on the callamatic screen, ex. phone number dialed, non print record, now all i get is a flicker of the screen and a small x then the screen goes back to normal on the callamatic., the pins are proper and getting signal i toned them to makes sure no break in line anywhere. the switch are in proper order also. I appreciate the help.

are you able to print records to the printer from the callamatic? If so could be the voltage coming out of the SMDR port is not enough to drive port on the CAS. I used to regularly have to clip resistors on XIOX prophets and 3700s when working with the old Seimens SD232 for that very problem. Xiox had put the resistor in to stop garbage in but would stop SMDR coming in from SD232H

I was refering to the printer port on the Mitel. Did you set it to match the Call accounting system?? The ultimate test for the SX50 would be to connect a known good serial device (laptop, printer), set at 9600, 8n1. Togle switch number 4 open , then closed, and you'll get a debug command out of the Mitel. If you receive nothing, the port on the Mitel is bad. If you see the debug response, you'll at least know the hardware is all working properly!

printer to callamatic printing properly, the printer that is used right now is a panasonic kx-p2023 it uses parallel connection, I will see if I can get a serial printer for test purposes. If i used a laptop with a db/9 cable could that work? and what do i need to do to interface the sx50 to laptop?

Using the DB9 serial port on your laptop, open hyperterminal, and create a new connectio for 9600, N81. You's need a "Straight thru" db9 to db 25 converter, and a male connection to go into the SX50. Contact me if you need more help!!
