I received a 3100ICP that no one knew the password for, I tried to perform a factory default restore following the instruction in the tech manual; unfortunately during the cycle the power strip was cycled accidentally. Now the system has a constantly flashing amber light.

Does anyone know if there is a procedure to recover from this situation?

more than likly you fried the hard drive. it is a well known fact to not cycle the power when a 3100 boots or you will fry the system.

While this is the response I expected it is not the response that I was hoping for. Unfortunately, we can't always control the oops factor of others; I was hoping that some one would know of a procedure to correct the damage. I doubt that the HDD is physically fried, rather that it has lost it's mind.

Thanks for the information. I will leave this open for a few days.

the boot paramaters are probably hosed. you need to hyperterm in to the maintenaace and repair the settings.

Thanks for the hint. I went to the Mitel FTP site and downloaded the latest flash. I re-flashed the CF card and then did a reload and all is now working at the default settings.

When 200ICPs have a power interruption during the part of boot that says, "Do not power off while booting," to simply reboot again will often reset it and allow it to power up normally.

Just something I discovered accidentally... smile

Thanks for that; I have added it to my notes.
I was able to restore it to Factory with a re-flash and I moved the power strip up where people can't just hit the off button by mistake.

I had the same thing happen on a new 200ICP while programming it in our shop. A nice sunny day and suddenly the power flashed off about 3 times. Now I never plug one in without a UPS.
