I've been able to connect my LG cell phone via USB and use it as a tethered modem. One of my techs has a USB to serial adapter that seems to work well with his laptop running Vista. Most of the programs we are using are simple terminal emulation applications, but I've been able to use some proprietary manufacturer's programs with no trouble on mine.

jayman,

You may want to try another brand of USB-DE9 adapter. I've read in some of our manufacturers' documentation and heard from colleagues that some adapters don't pass testing with certain devices. Specifically, I've both read and heard that Belkin units have issues. Unfortunately, I don't have a brand name to recommend. But, perhaps someone else on here does. I'll try to find one of the documents that specifies some brands that have tested well with our manufacturers' equipment.

Good luck!
