Hello,
We are a hotel.

Our new Property Management System receives and logs data coming from our PBX (it makes a note if a wake up call is set, if it is not answered etc…). It is having a problem with the data coming from our Mitel SX 200 EL.

If wake ups are set consecutively, the data does not appear to have breaks between messages (sample data below – room 113 had a wake up set, then room 115).

Is this a Mitel configuration issue? Does anyone know if there is a setting to distinguish these separate records (like putting a “******” before and after each one)? My research tells me that we cannot change the data coming from the Mitel PBX.

Correct, the output of the Mitel PMS data is not anything that can be changed. PMS vendors set up the integration to read the Mitel output. Hope this helps.

If the PMS is reading and posting calls correctly it should not have a problem with the wake-up calls so like "the Doctor" stated it has to be a problem with the PBX, If I remember correctly the SMDR on wake-ups and call records outputs a carriage return and line feed after the record - so again if the PMS is logging calls correctly then the PMS company should be able to adjust their system to read the wake-ups.

The outputs you've listed, aren't directly from the Mitel. It looks like the're the output from the PMS or call accounting system.
The RAW output from the Mitel does a line feed/carriage return after each record, whether it's SMDR, wakeup logs, maintenenace logs, etc. etc.

Thanks everyone. Fifty5footer, how can I get the direct SMDR data output to compare? We also have a a mitel 2103 dataset, although I'm not sure it's exact purpose.

Plug your laptop (hyperterminal/procomm plus) directly into the serial port that is providing the SMDR outport. It could possibley be the printer port on the back of the system, and not necessarily the dataset.
With your comm port set to the same settings as the output serial port, you should see the raw data coming out of the Mitel

If you know how to get into programming on the mitel go to form 34 and it will tell you where the SMDR, and wake-up calls are printing out - it could be that they are coming out of different ports (ie - SMDR out of printer port and wake-ups out of data set). Obviously 55ftr is correct that is printout from interface program on PBX.

there are a lot of variables here - do you have a stand alone call accounting system that is interfaced to the PBX or is the PMS doing the call accounting? , etc.

Also would bet that the data set is being used for the PBX-PMS interface which gives you guest name display, restricts/unrestricts room phones, and does maid status update.

If you can get to form 34 then you will see printer port assignments and if you see an extension number then it means that particular thing is coming out of the dataset.

I looked through all my mauals on disk and can't find a wake-up printout example to copy here - sorry
