When I try an talk to this machine either directly or by modem, I get no response on control Q or W. I have tried all ports on all cabinets an several modems....Does maint. interface reside on MCC, other then this the switch has no problems....I just can't talk to it....Any suggestions?

Are you sure the baud rate you're using is correct??
The SX2000 doesn't 'self adjust'.
A series of "control C's' may help to unlock the serial port!

I am pretty sure that the baud rate is still 9600. I have tried different rates to no avail. I have also tried Control C nermous times and no change. This switch has been working for about 4 years. I have a remote switch tied to this one and it is doing the same thing. I have a new main control card on site but not sure if I take the system down to change it out, will I have to do a data base restore from the RSD to get everything back up? Does anyone know if the serical interface resides on the Main Control card like the old SX200's did?

Not too familiar with this system so don't know if serial port is resident on the MCC but I would get a cable configuration going that would allow me to put a line tester in to see if you are getting the Transmit data light. Would give you an indication if the port is dead.

The database resides on the hard drive, so changing out the MCC will not cause you to lose your system programing.
Have you checked the dip switches on the Control Resource Card? If they're all closed, you should be able to connect from any of the Maintenance ports.
The last test (if possible), would be to set your terminal to 9600 8N1, and reload the system. You should see the result codes display on your terminal as the processor reloads.

Thanks fifty5footer. I will make sure of the dip switch settings. Your input I am sure will be very helpful.

Do you have a known good cable and computer / terminal? I would get the direct connection working first before the modem. A reboot may be needed to clear the port.
The setting is 9600, 8 bit, 1 stop, no parity, Xon/Xoff, connected to J1.
I just pinned out one of my cables, it is:

Female 9 to Male 9
1&6
2 to 2
3 to 3
4&7 to 7
5 to 5
8 to 1,6,8
