Once again I find myself up against a task that seems like it should be easy but doesn't seem to have an immediate solution.
I had an end user approach me today asking how he could eliminate the password for his VM box. My initial instinct was to tell him to set it to xxxx like we did when we were using the Nupoint Messenger, however, this just results in that being his password. Changing it to the default xxxx has the same effect. I also tried deleting the password in the maintenance interface but it refuses to accept a non-4 digit numerical password.
Nothing I've tried seems to work and the manual doesn't seem to mention having no password.
Any suggestions?

Don't think you can set an extension box to have no password. Look at setting it up as a different TYPE of mailbox

I would think that you could do that. I'm not sure "guest" will be an option if you do not have lodging enabled.

If there is not lodging or PMS on the system ( and it sounds like this is a business instead of a hotel) then he/she is just going to have top live with dialing in a password. Just curious as to why he doesn't want a password. ??

Just curious as to why he doesn't want a password. ?? It is a business but I'm actually not sure how to confirm whether or not we have lodging or PMS? I'd assume he doesn't want a password because it makes his finger unavailable to pick his nose which appears to be high on the priority list for him if he's so worried about having to type a 4 digit password! Sometimes, you don't even want to ask...if you know what I mean.
