I have a property that has been doing a PMS conversion to a new level. We got all the interfaces up besides the Voice mail. They have "tested everything" and blame our equipment, the cable mainly. My computer crashed so i do not have the documents to help, but can anyone tell me what the pinouts would be coming off the express messenger to the pms be? Oh, and connection will come from the express messenger and connect to the "Digi board" (rj-45). Thanks in advance!

Did it work with another PMS, you say that it is a 'conversion to a new level'. That's PMS-Speak for 'software upgrade and YOU are the BETA test sight and we haven't got the Mitel E-M interface down so you need to tell us what we are doing wrong'. Tell them it worked before they started messing with it, it's their problem! It's a good thing I don't have to 'interface' with those Bozo's anymore! !@#$% John C.

Try hooking up a laptop and checking for data. If the data appears on the screen in hyperterminal or procomm plus, the problem is the PMS system.
Typical pinouts for 9-pin serial data are either 2 and 5, 3 and 5, 3 and 7, or 2 and 7.
Get some pin-it-yourself ends and experiment.
Enjoy.

just hook up a regular null modem cable. hook up procomm/hyperterminal 2 formats hyatt encore = 1200,E,7,1 HIS = 2400 E,7,1
Make sure you enable it in 999 admin box
Actually the best test to make sure your cable is good is to go into MBX 999 and turn on express manager - if you can get into programming the vmail with that cable---then the cable is good.

Connecting your PC Directly to the Express Messenger Card 1. Plug one end of the custom RS-232 cable into an unused COM port on the PC. 2. Plug the other end of the cable into the Express Messenger card connector. You must open the PBX door to connect the cable. The custom RS-232 cable is a PC-to-PC cable with 9-pin female DB9 connectors on each end. Wires between pines 1 and 4 and between 2 and 3 of the connectors cross over within the cable; that is, it is a null modem cable.

Well - I think he said the computer crashed so didn't have it to hook up - if it was going to an rj45 on the far end then it would be best to get an adapter for the EM end. It would normally be VM PMS 2 to 3 3 to 2 5 to 7
However you would have to convert that to the appropriate pins on the rj45
Remember you will have to dial in to the Ex Mess and set the serial port to PMS

Aren't they're commands that are needed to be sent for information to be passed back from the Express messenger? We are scheduled to go on site again, this is most likely the last stop, PMS is still suggesting we have a problem. These "bozos" dont seem to know what they are doing at all! I heard of a PMS simulator mitel has somewhere but can't seem to find it on Mitels website. Any ideas?

If you want a pms simulator you can create one yourself. I use Procomm (anyone would work) and follow the "pms keyboard commands" in the Mitel tech handbook or the folio docs. I use this as a test when installing and also as a troublshooting tool, works great. Be sure to leave the blanks ahead of the room number for the check in or checkout etc.

Use the pms emulator that is circulating the net, thus you will avoid all that crap with the tech handbook and the manual emulator. Search Mitel pms emulator

Would you happen to have a link somewhere, i have searched everywhere and can't seem to find it. I only find people talking about it. I have never had any luck doing it manually---sending the enq and what not.
