I have been trying to Link an Ericcsson via a trunk port to a Mitel 3300 via an analogue extension. When trunk port is accessed from Ericcsson user should get dial tone from the Mitel and be able to dial extensions on the Mitel. This worked on the previous system without any setup adjustments. When dialling the trunk port on the Ericcsson the message 'blocked' is displayed. It works ok if linking an Ericcsson analogue extension to the same port.
Any ideas?

Polarity problem? On-hook voltage not high enough? Mitel ONS extensions in the US have about a 28 volt on-hook voltage, unless they are OPS extensions. (Different circuit board) John C.

I think lightening is on to it with the voltage thing.

Can you tell the Ericsson not to "wait for dial tone" in its trunk programming?

Thanks for the responses. Is there any way to increase the voltage? Aswell as the uilt in extensions I have an ASU. The extension I am connecting to is on the ASU. I don't think it's polarity but I will try that when next on site.
Not sure about the Ericsson question I will have to raise that with the switch maintainer.

In the Mitel you can set a "limited wait for dial tone" in the COS of the trunks. that forces the digits out over the trunk even if it cannot "hear" dial tone. I'll bet the Ericsson can doe something similar since this is needed with T1 circuits. If you can get that to work then you can build routing that would allow the users to dial the access code then the ext in the Mitel and it should, in theory, get you where you need to go.

Another issue that might come up is a disconnect, have seen this hang a line in the past from not seeing the disconnect. Was more related to SIP trunks but wanted to be sure you look at that when you get it to connect

Have asked the Ericsson maintainer to program the trunks not to wait for dial tone, this still didn't work but they are looking at other options.

Maybe we should back up and start over! I am ASSUMING that these are discrete analog ports, not part of a T-span, ISDN, or another non-analog link. If so, can you dial into the Mitel Extension with a standard butt set? What are the ON-hook and OFF-hook voltages of the Mitel Extension port and will the Ericsson Trunk port recognize those voltages. Last, if you have your butt set in monitor on the Mitel Extension port, do you hear the Ericsson dialing into the Mitel? These are the tests I would run first, IF I were there. Check all these and get back to us. John C.

If you need higher voltage, then an opx card will do the trick. I think they would be better served with some type of e&m connectivity. It's strange that they would want some cheap undesirable cf method of communication. Key system versus pbx. JMHO
