Hi all, I have a hotel where all the analog phones have the MWI lamp lit. This is a SX200EL. The console doesn't recognize that the room lamps are lit. I've tried using the clear oldest message feature code (all I got was reorder from the PBX). This system has a 4 port Xpress Messenger card. I can't figure out how to clear the lights. The system has been power cycled to no avail. We want to upgrade this switch to a 200ICP. I don't want to do it until we get this resolved. Any suggestions?

Did the lights ever work properly? How about the admin phones?? Is the problem only with phones that have a mailbox?? Is the 'ringing' light on the power supplies flashing continuously??

not sure from your post how many lights are flashing but anyway if you look in form 2 option 42 to see what is in there and if nothing program an access code, this will help you see who or what turned the lights on, console or voicemail etc., this would be a start.

The lights did work properly. This is a system we inherited recently, so my history with it is pretty short. The admin phones aren't lit up, only the analog sets. They all have mailboxes. The ringing light is always lit. This system has only 2 bays. I did use the the code programmed in form 2 option 42 to see if it would clear the light. It didn't work. I wasn't able to clear it from the console either. Thank you for the replies.

When you respond to the MWI, do you get the XMEM, or just ringing, or what. It's possible that some guest set the MWI as a prank. Especially if they are Mitel smart and trying to force a service call. And yes, those folks ARE out there! Another possibility is a broadcast message from the XMEM. John C.

When I tried to use the code to clear the light all I get was reorder from the PBX. All the analog phones in the system are lit, even the lobby phone, which doesn't have a MB.

That would indicate that some extension set MW on all the phones. When you dial the callback code, where do the calls go? If they go to a mail box after several rings, that means it went to a phone that has a mailbox. If you know the admin PW for the XMEM, you can figure out the offending extension. Then you can go to each phone, dial the callback code and the called phone must answer. That will cancel the MW. If it doesn't have a mailbox, maybe you can find it by checking all phones for the one that is ringing. Remember, it's going to take A WHILE ! And ringing will time out and have to be restarted. Last resort, CLEAR ALL FEATURES code dialed from each extension. The problem is that ALL call forwarding will have to be re-established. John C.

What happens when you dial the voice mail from one of the phones what do you get? Is there a message on there? Lightening might be on to something with the "broadcast message" suggestion.

if I am reading this properly only analogue sets have mw lights on and even one without a mailbox, therefore should not be a broadcast as a broadcast would go to only sets with mailboxes and the lobby phone does not have a mailbox
