Sorry for the many postings - I'm dealing with a LONG list of questions and issues for our phone system this week, hence the many postings. Our vendor has been helping me but I always like to get second opinions as well. The 3300 is a LOT more complicated to admin than our old system so there's more than one way to accomplish some things.
Anyhow - Mitel 3300mxe, 5340 phones, if someone puts a call on hold, and hangs up the receiver, then pick up the receiver to make a call, get a dial tone, start to dial and the display reads "please select a line". Is there any way to have it roll to that second line automatically if the first is in use? Just seems counter-intuitive to have to manually select it when it even gives you a dial tone.

I am not familiar with 3300 but in ICP there is COS option called "Automatic Outgoing Line" that always will give you ICM. dial tone not an Outgoing line, so you must dial 9. There is another Option called Automatic ARS which will give you outgoing Pool on "off hook" condition. In this case it has to be everybody with the same COS or has to be COS only for dedicated phones that would like to have an Outgoing Pool for "off hook" state.

In the 200 ICP there is a Class of Service option 604 called "Automatic Outgoing line select". If this option is enabled it will pull dial tone from an available internal extension or personal outgoing line. I would assume there is something similar in the 3300

You would think...but I don't see anything like that in there. Went through the list incase it was re-worded as something else :-(

You won't find anything for the 3300. As being counter-intuitive I tend to disagree. Either you want to get back to the caller or do something different, press the key to make such a choice seems the right thing to do.
As for the 200, you can make a non prime key your off hook choice. This can cause problems in and of itself. Things like hold pickup become difficult for users.

so theres nothing in the 3300 that allows auto access to an outside line without dialing 9?
what do you guys do for faxes and modems? just tell the user to dial 9 first?
