My mitel 3300Mxe ICP was working fine.It is patched to a Lan switch that is in turn connecting to ip phones. It is a simple vLan using DHCP on the ICP for ip addresses. This is a new installation so the 5550ip console was not getting an ip address but all the other phones did.The options are all put in.So under IP configuration I went to vLan Layer2 Switch & enabled it.As soon as I clicked on save the ICP went into deanial.Using the web browser failed to diplay the page. All ip phones stopped working just display SET & ICP addresses. How then do I disable the L2 via the serial port using Hyperterminal as I can no longer web the ICP.URGENT ASSISTANCE REQUIERED AS COMMUNICATION IS DOWN.

I am not really a 3300 guy (though I have been working my way through one with a lot of help and much reading of the docs). I don't know of anyway to do that via the serial port. I would ask if you have changed any of the IP addresses in the switch or if you just used the default. If you changed something you could have a subnet conflict that could be causing your problems. Also make sure that you are connected to LAN port number one on the front of the server when trying to browse in.
Also do you have anything plugged into the Layer 2 switch (assuming you do). If so I might try disconnecting those things and see if you can get in.
I will keep looking through the docs to see if I can find anything.
BTW is this an MXe or MXe server?

If you have changed this by mistake then use the following procedure to recover the MXe.
1) Connect a serial cable to the RS232 port. Open hyperterminal and connect with 9600,8,N,1.
2) Type vlan_off and press return.
3) After 30 seconds you will be able to connect to the RTC address through ESM via the layer 2 ports.
4) Change the VLAN ID to 1 and Priority to 0.
5) Reboot the MXe 3300 controller

I don't know - it was an emergency but we never heard if he got it fixed.
