I have a local motel with a SX50 that prints about every 5th call and the console shows the alarm for print queing full? When I print reports, clear alarm, and purge print queing it works fine for about 2 days. Then it starts all over again? Any ideas?

They have an ESI Phonebill call accounting system I'm thinking the dc power adapter may be going bad. But I was looking through some of their printouts and noticed it going offline for hours at the time and then coming back online. I've seen them flicker during brownouts but not go off for an hour or two and come back on. I've checked the power adapter and power at the receptacle with my voltmeter both test fine.

I think you're on the right track. Note that the power adapter and receptacle tested fine WHEN you were testing them. Plug a digital clock into the outlet, use a splitter so that you can get the exact same connections. Then check it after 24-48 hours and see if it's blinking! By the way, the reason it seems to be working fine for a couple of days is that the print que has room for about 500 calls! And there is a setting in command 100 to overflow the que, 1st in 1st dumped. Doesn't fix the problem, but I always turn it on. They know soon enough if the calls aren't printing. (Or Should) John C.

Found the problem. The second and third shift desk clerks like to unplug equipment so they can charge their cell phones. There's another power receptacle 4 feet away but they can't sit at the desk and talk on their cell phones if they use it. The owner is LIVID now he has to pay for two service calls. Thanks John

My Dad was a mechanic and he used to call that a "loose nut behind the wheel" problem.
