I wonder if someone could briefly verify my perception of a power off procedure for change of the UPS serving our phone system.

I've done a full database backup and I understand from the manual that I should log onto the system via the serial connection to do a

RE_START
SHUTDOWN
ENTER

... then unplug the controller, then the NSU, then turn off power switches in the Peripheral cabinets.

And for startup,

Plug in controller,
Plug in NSU, then
Turn on power switches for peripheral cabinets.

Anything I should be concerned about with doing this?

The manual isn't really clear on whether the software shutdown is necessary before just pulling the controller plug. Do I need to do the software shutdown or can I just pull the plug?

Thanks, BCMitel

Yes, I suppose that's an obvious question.

It's an SX200-ICP with 3 per cabinets.

For a 200 ICP that would be the procedure to follow and you should not have problems. Just pulling the power plug is never a good idea.

OK, thanks Steve. Any idea how long it will take to come back up?

5-10 minutes or up to 15. If it were to take longer then something might be wrong.
