What? Thunder storm and power outage scrambled the SX-50 (MS53), the hotel called the vendor they've used in the past and was told they needed to replace it, completely.
Why me? They called me for a 2nd quote; while looking it over I ran a DB dump to the printer (insufficient data and gibberish for all the fields). I checked the battery (it graduated from high school this year) it was dated 1992. I reloaded the default data base, and replaced the battery. The PBX runs, I have dial tone on all the ONS cards and can call out on all the trunks, although they must be centrex lines as I have to dial 99 to place the call.
What now & the rub? I think they will hire me to reprogram the PBX and I have only minimal experience on the 50, but I have a manual 9104-091-001. I'm more familiar with the SX-200 ML/EL, and the old analog SX-100/200. What mis-steps should I look to avoid? I know I'll need to change the extension numbers, get the PMS working, restrict calling etc.
If anyone has any tips or advice it will be very much appreciated. What programming order would you recommend? Thanks.

It sounds like you are 60% there. Programming is not too hard once you get going. Come here with specific questions.

First. NO PMS capability! SMDR only. If they have an EAZY Cost-accounting system, it may be arranged to change the room ARS level. If so, you'll have to make sure the port it is connected to is set in 100-1-efg. If they have a wakeup announcer connected to port 001, be mindful of that. The only differences between MS53 and MS55, MS53 doesn't support VM or DNIC SS cards. I'd suggest you lay your hands on at least a set of program record forms. PM me for further. John C.
