I am new to the SX-200. I have been asked by the hotel manager to add 2 new voice lines for meeting rooms.

The installer wrote the bay.slt.cct info on the punch downs for every pair: 1.1.x (16 ONS), 2.1.x (16 ONS), 3.1.x (16 ONS), 4.1.x (12 ONS), 4.2.x (12 ONS), 4.3.x (12 ONS), 4.4.x (12 ONS), 4.5.x (12 DNIC), 4.7.x (12 ONS), 4.8.x (12 ONS). All punch downs are full except 1.1.x and 4.5.x. 1.1.x had three pairs: 1.1.1 (Exercise room), 1.1.2 (PBX modem), and 1.1.10 (Tom). I connected a butt set to these and dialed the desk clerk (150) to obtain the extensions. 1.1.1=136, 1.1.2=111. 1.1.10 was direct dial.

I put my two new pairs on punch downs 1.1.3 (meeting room 2) and 1.1.4 (meeting room 3). Now I need to configure the extensions.

The first thing I noticed on Form 09 was that punch down 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 are mapped to 1.13.3 and 1.13.4. I read that the SX-200 MX’s built-in ASU is accessed via slot 13, so that may be expected. But I’m not sure about the CCT differences.

On Form 09 I saw:
BAY SLT CCT TEN EXTN COS COR TYPE PAGE NAME ASSOC COMMENTS
...
1 12 12 VMAIL
1 13 01 4025
1 13 03 1 136 6 1 Stn EXCERCISE
1 13 04 1 111 2 1 Stn PBX MODEM PBX Modem
1 13 05
1 13 06
2 01 01 1 201 1 1 Stn
2 01 01 1 202 1 1 Stn
...

Why don’t I see 1/13/2? Why don’t I see 1/13/7 – 1/13/16?
Why is a digital hand set (4025) on an ONS line card?

I changed:
1 13 05 1 142 1 1 Stn MTG RM 2 Center Rm
1 13 06 1 143 1 1 Stn MTG RM 3 Right/East Rm
However I don’t get dial tone on the two new pairs. Oh, and the front Minor Alarm LED is blinking as if to say "You did it wrong!"

Any insight you can offer is appreciated.

Those ports will only work if the "analog options board" is installed. That is a daughter board that mounts inside the MX Controller, and give you 6 more LS Trunks, and 2 more ONS Ports..

Those two ports are only available if customer purchased the optional Analog Option Card. In addition, a license may need to be purchased. Mitel requires a license for each port in the system.

Cool, fast response!! You guys ROCK.

By "those two ports", I assume you mean 1/13/5 and 1/13/6. Is there a way to list what free analog ports this system has? My idea was to visually scan down the list on Form 09 until I see blank lines, but I guess that isn't a proper technique.

I looked up the minor alarm in this system:
Bay# 1, # of devices 11, Tot Dev Unavail 2, Perecent Unavail 18%, Alarm Level Minor. It told me what I had guessed -- I did it wrong.

Then I viewed the device status.
bb 1 ss 13 cc 5 sc 0, station_Id 106, ex/tk 142, asu, bsout, down
bb 1 ss 13 cc 6 sc 0, station_Id 107, ex/tk 143, asu, bsout, down
Does this match "are only available if customer purchased the optional Analog Option Card"?

If I did find two free ports, after assigning the extn, type, etc, would the port start working immeadiately? Or do I need to perform a "commit" or start or something?

If you look at the back of the MX you might see some RJ11 jacks which are those 1-13-XX ports if you have an Analog Options Board installed. The system when first programmed sets a lot of the ports by default and the 1-13-2 is set up as a console so you would look in form 7 to see if one is programmed on that port. These are not usually brought out on a block though. You do have to purchase the option to get more that 2 of the ONS ports to work. There are also a couple of LS trunks ports on that board too.

System Option #103 restricts you to the TOTAL number of TDM devices you can program in your system. You can assume anything that's NOT an IP telephone, would be considered a TDM device (analog sets, digital sets, any trunk other than an IP trunk). FYI, Voicemail ports don't count as either TDM or IP.

Okay, um, something to clarify here: The 4025 is on an "analog line card" because... well, it's not. The main controller pins out differently from a peripheral bay. If you've worked on the Per. Bay at all, you are probably accustomed to how they pin out .

To successfully cross-connect the ICP main controller (which is "Bay 1") you need to have the Technician's handbook. That will explain the pairs and what you need to have for each pair.

Yes, if you program form 9, the pair will go live and have dial tone. But there's more to it than that: COS, COR, Licenses, etc.

If you're going to program SX-200s on a regular basis, I recommend getting certified. If this is a one-off, I recommend that you bite the bullet and call a contractor.

Well if the MX has 2 ONS ports then I think the system has no free ONS ports. I looked at the back and there are just the std connectors, music on hold input, one RJ45, and the AMP connectors. I think were I went astray is assuming the AMP connector carried 16 ONS ports. Not true.

My Max devices is 190.

As far as biting the bullet. Maybe. But my attitude is I can master anything and have the time and Love, Love, Love to learn, so the option is unsettling and doesn't sit well.

When I deleted the two extensions that I added the flashing LED went out.

Thanks everyone!
