I think that Richard Morris' original question was directed toward speaker phones, as in phones with the speaker phone capability, not conference room speaker phones. He is looking for a single-line replacement for the 8110. This results in major differences in the position of the decimal point with regard to price.

I think why so many tech's have replied with Polycom is due to this section of his original post . " Many of them are in conference rooms so the speaker phone needs to work well " The only way I know of for a conference room speaker phone to work some what well , is if it's full duplex just like an analog handset . That's where the confusion has been IMHO . Thanks and Last post on this subject .

Just my two cents... I love the Vodavi sets. As far as conference rooms, no normal speakerphone that I have ever seen will handle a conference room and do it well. The mics are deliberately made to be unidirectional to avoid picking up background noise and they are basically all half duplex. If you want a conference room solution that is going to work well, you need to go with a full duplex that is made for conference rooms, like a Polycom.

ev607797, OBTW, and paul144, Yeh, I'm looking for, for lack of a better term, a traditional single line speakerphone. I understand it's "speakerphone" limitations. I also know the company is not going to pop 3 or 400 dollars per to replace them. We have maybe 6 in conference rooms and another 12 to 15 in various offices. I have to find one unit that can multi-task. The Vodavi sound like a good choice.

Since this is along the lines of my question, I'm going to drag this thread back up, as opposed to starting a new one.
We currently use the Vodavi single line speakerphones for analog phones, however they doesn't have a great wall-mount option.
Four requirements for the phone I'm looking for:
1. Easily and securely wall-mountable. 2. MWL. 3. Speakerphone. 4. Line-powered (the Vodavi is line-powered).
And similar to Richard's requirements, I'm not looking for a conference speakerphone, just a traditional single-line speakerphone, that meet the above 4 requirements.
Thanks!
Justin

I think Teledex has some phones that would fit the bill....the only question would be the wall mount part, but that used to be quite easy on their older models, but I have not sold one in a while.

There is one other consideration I will throw into this conversation.
That is, are these behind a LEGEND/MAGIX and, if so, do they have Voice Mail Boxes?
I think we can all see where this will be going.....

In my case they are not behind an Avaya switch.
It looks, so far, like the Aastra phones are maybe a good way to go. I think we're going to give them a try.

Did you notice that no one said the word = Radio Shack...Duphone Remember them. I still have one of the desk speaker phones, and that thing still actually works quite well. But it has to been 20 years old now. It is amazing what you have in the junk drawer.

for transmission quality consider the auxilliary power for the 8110. for the auto answer problem consider the replacement button kit for the 8110.
