HAVE A CUSTOMER WITH A NITSUKO ONYX SYSTEM THAT IS COMPLAINING OF A LOUD SQUEALING/SCREECHING NOISE ON LINES 1 AND 2.
IS THIS SYMPTOMATIC OF THIS SYSTEM? IF THE CALLER CALLS BACK OFTENTIMES THE NOISE IS NOT THERE. I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS COMMON FAILURE FOR THIS SYSTEM OR IF IT COULD BE THE CENTRAL OFFICE CAUSING THE PROBLEM.
THEY DON'T KNOW IF THE CALLER CAN HEAR THEM OR NOT WHEN THEY HEAR THE SCREECHING ON THEIR END.

Have you tested the lines at the dmark to see if it's on the lines or the system? I've put in a bunch of the Onyx and have never ran into that problem. Also is this problem on one phone or system wide, you can also put the lines on different ports to see if by chance it is the line card.

the co ports may be failing. Like previously posted swap co positions. The DS01 cartridges give me lots of headaches...thats why they are so cheap refurbished...

If this is the Onyx VS, you may want to try to reseat the ribbon cable going into the base. The ribbon cables sometime lose their connection with the connector.

Also if something goes goofy with the system, it usually happens in adjacent ports.

I take it you also did a reset of the system?

check the extension programing...if you have the TAPI toggled on this sometimes causes handset feedback...that sounds like your problem
