Hello! I have a Tie UMT-32/64. I have the system manual and have been able to change several configs in the system.
For some reason incoming calls are only lighting up a led instead of actually ringing.
i have read the manual in all sections available for ringing preferences and audible settings. Aparently I did everything but it still doesn't work.
The guy who installed the system told me I needed a special "card" in the ksu for the phone to actually ring. He opened the box and showed me where to insert it. (MISC slot) I have searched around for this card when I found the system manual. I can't find the card because I don;t know how it is named or called.
The thing is after reading the manual i didn't find anything on a special card to make this happen so I don;t know anymore if what the guy told me was the truth or not.
Can anyone help me out???

Piero:
1. Make sure you are familiar with all of Chapter 7---e.g. Port 10 is programming port, use a display phone, Initialize system, make sure you know what button the programming button is and how to turn it on....etc.
2. Make sure you are familiar with Appendix A---
3. This is an old system---even when it was new in 1987---it sometimes would lock up when programming, and you had to fiddle with the programming button and reset the system etc.
4. I don't remember any card that you had to buy in order to make the system ring.
5. Port 10 should ring (defaulted) after you initialize it.
6. Can you intercom all the phones?
7. If all the phones are working & they ring then at least the wiring is OK.
Go Slow and after you get port 10 to ring---THEN make another phone ring THEN another.
Good luck.

JWRacedog is right on the money, You don't need any special card to make them ring, the MISC slot is for optional equipment to hook up to. What you have is an Ultracom system and you should be programming it with a display phone. There should be a Day and Night program for ringing.
