Just moved a phone system against my better judgement. Worked fine, not when the main # is called it intermitently answers with a modem. Sound fimular ?

It says model # DX2NA

Is this an easy fix ? also need a user manual and installation manual, I also need to find out how to cal in and check voice mail.

Thanks to anyone who has any suggestions.

Sonny

What line is the alarm system hooked to? I had this happen to one of my customers recently. The alarm was on line 1 and if you called right after hangup you would get the modem in the alarm.

No alarm that I know of, are refering to burg or something in the phone system ? I connected the line marked CO 1 to the main incomming #.
Very often when you call the main # a modem, at least it sounds like a modem, could be a fax answers. not every time and no pattern.

I only tried it once and it didnt, but that was before I found out it was intermitent. There was an alarm setup from the prior tennant, and there wiring was a mess. I will check tomorrow.
Do you know if the nitsuko does this sort of thing ?
Also do you know how I can call in from my computer and identify what's answering?

Just did a little experimenting. I sent it a fax and it took it. since the business is closed I can call the # and the attendant picks up, if I call back quickly the fax picks up. any ideas ?

Could be one of two things.
1. Telco has hunting screwed up.
2. Fax is connected to the wrong line.
If I understand you corectly, you call in and get the auto attendant. But, when a second call comes in it goes to the fax machine. I would check both of the above. To do a line ID you can try 1-877-521-2311 but this does not work in all areas.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Steph

Fax might be in ring group and it might be delayed for a couple of rings to answer. Call 1 goes through ok but the fax may count the rings, then you call again quickly? Fax might not recognize it as second call and continue counting. Just a possibilaty. when call comes in and goes to the fax, is it lighting line 2 on the phone? or is it line 1 still? that would determine hunting.
