Hello.

I live in Florida and was hit by the hurricane. I had so many power surges and dips that I believe it caused my NVM-2000 to shut down while the hard drive was still writting information.

The operating system seem to now be corupted on this system and I'm wondering anyone had ever heard of re-imaging the hard drive to fix the system?

If anyone things they can help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Please let me know.

Thanks for your help.

Do you have the ability to connect to the voice mail via the serial port?
We use the IDEA software to backup the database. Then we get a replacement drive from NEC (it has some interesting propriety copy control thing going on). Next is to restore the database to the new drive. It's not easyt for a first timer, get a qualified tech if you can.

the HD will have an archive sector that will most likely not be corrupted.

TMORIN, are you a qualified NEC tech? Maybe you could help me out in fixing my system.

The system errors I'm getting are actually from DOS. I am not sure if the archive backup could help with this?

If someone can tell me the version of DOS they use on the voicemail or if you are able to get me a replacement drive for my NVM-2000. That might be able to help me out.

Thanks.

What do you use to diagnose the voicemail bootup sequence?

Hi.

When I turn it on, it said that it can't find a bunch of DOS files and it never boots up.

I guess I either need to find those DOS files or just Re-image the hard drive.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever used something like Norton Ghost or any other program to copy an Image of the NVM-2000's hard drive or could basically do a Hard drive-to-hard drive image copy.

I paid like $5,000 for this system and its dead because the power went out during someone leaving a message. I just hoping that someone knows how to fix this. I can't do anything without the dos operating system used or a image of the hard drive.

Thanks.

My voicemail's hard drive started making noises lately, so this weekend I cloned my hard drive using some Linux tools to copy the FAT16 partition and the master boot record. It came back up fine, but I can no longer access saved/held messages. It's looking for them on a drive D: which doesn't exist. I'm going to copy the drive sector by sector and see what happens. Anyone else have luck with this or some light to shed on the problem?
