We have a customer with a 124i system with 3 cabinets. They recently added a second PRI circuit and we added a second PRI card in the system. We are not able to get both PRI cards to work simultaneously. When powered up, whichever card sync's up first is the card that the phone system looks to for dial tone. We have tried adjusting the clocking in program 2603 (which is what tech support recommended) and that did not work. We have tried the second PRI card in slot 3 of both the second and third cabinets, same result in either cabinet.

The firmware on both PRI cards is the latest. The software version of the CPU is 6.00.17P which tech support said would work.

Please let me know if any of you have had to deal with this issue.

Thanks

Ok, do you have the cabinets properly grounded to each other per specifications. This is VERY important. The other thing are the PRI's being provided by the same barrier? Are both PRI's providing a seperate d channel?

All cabinets are grounded to each other and the ground goes back to the battery back up ground lug. The carrier for both PRI's is the same and both circuits were installed at the same time because they changed carriers when they went to 2 PRI's. The carrier has also confirmed that each circuit has it's own D-channel.

Another question...are both working when they come up or just one?

Each PRI has it's own CSU.

When the phone system is reset and the PRI in cabinet #1 syncs up first, everything is fine. If the PRI in cabinet #3 syncs up first, it has dial tone and can complete a call, but there is no audio.

The #2 PRI card has been in slot 3 of the second and third cabinet and had the same issue. The cards have been swapped and the result is the same which eliminates a bad card.

Both PRI circuits work fine when individually connected to the card in cabinet #1.

So what you are saying is that the primary clock HAS to be the first card or you have issues. Right?

Well, NEC doesn't have a fix for this because after many phone calls and e-mails demanding a solution, they sent us a used 704i to put in place of the customer's 124i. Thanks for the help Coral.
