I need a little help if anyone can it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm at an office that uses a Nitsuka phone system through a DSL network. The phone is great, but our answering service through our service provider leaves a lot to be desired. Naturally a regular answering machine would be the answer? Well the problem is that regular (answering) machines don't work with the phone system - we get a dead line. I don't know if it's me (tech. handicap) or if there is a product line through Nitsuko that would work with our phones and DSL. Anyone have an Idea? Thanks!

What model of Nitsuko system are you using??

If you are trying to plug the answering machine into a jack that had a Nitsuko phone in it, you're not going to get any dialtone. What you need to do is to get a knowledgeable tech to install that where you want it---and he can hook it up to whatever line you want. [Linked Image from img125.echo.cx]

Thanks for the reply!

Our Nitsuko system is a 22 Button HF Disp Tel
Part No: 82473. We have 3 different lines connected to the phone system here. One is local, long distance, fax, and a seperate line for the garage office. Would a tech. from Nitsuko be preferable? Our service provider doesn't provide any tech support for any answering machine installation.

I've tried (tech. handicap here remember) and an associate has attempted connecting about 4 different machines to the phones - no dice. We even tried a DSL filter thinking that's the problem.

Do you know of any company that would be a good contact for this? I'm at a loss on who exactly to make a contact with.

Thanks Again for the Help!

Telephone basically come in two varieties: Digital and Analog.

The telephone extensions on your Nitsuko system are "digital and proprietary". This means that basically any other telephone other that the Nitsuko will not work.

Example: A telephone from a Toshiba system will not work on your telephone system...this includes a simple home telephone (called analog).

There are two possible ways to get an analog device (answering maching, fax, single-line phone) to work on your digital telephone system:
  • Install the device to the incoming telephone number, before it enters your telephone system.
  • Have a Nitsuko technician install an analog board on your system*

*Installing an analog board is dependent upon if space is available on your telephone system.

Either way, it is best that you get a knowledgeable technician to look at your system and make viable suggestions.

As to looking for a technician I am sure you will soon get someone on this forum that will be willing to help you out. You may also check out the INSTALLERS tab at the top of this page.

[I don't suppose you would be willing for me to drive from Oregon...]
