An 824 was replaced with a 0x32,The startalk VM had 2DN assigned from old 824,In order to set the VM to work on 3DN numbers we had to reboot it.Well now all access features are inactive features.Yet you can dial the Vm port and get voice mail.Nortel say's that the ver. of the System and VM are compatible. O ya it's a 2port 4channel VM. As you can see I'm not a moderator for Nortel so all you Nortel Tech's can help out the Lucent man [This message has been edited by dtmf (edited 03-23-2001).]

The problem is that you cant get in to the voice mail to do any admin. programming.Feature 983 comes up as inactive feature so thats as far as you can go with it.

You could try connecting via any terminal program (hyperterm, pc anywhere) to the serial port of the startalk, there are some admin features there I think.

I've tried 9*1 and it also comes up as inactive feature.Ay feature code that deals with the VM is inactive feature since we gave it a reboot.By all normal thinking it should have come up with all features in default. It act's like the system is not reading that it's there but port programming say's that it is.We've powered down the system to see if it would see it upon restart. Nothing works (THINK REAL HARD GUY'S)has any one of you had this problem before or am I just lucky. [This message has been edited by dtmf (edited 03-24-2001).]

it certainly sounds like you have non-compatible software, nortel has been known to give out erroneous info.what type and how old is the VM?

sounds to me that you are trying to upgrade the KSU without upgrading the VM. It is my understanding that when upgrading a KSU you must also upgraded VM as well and when doing this you need to upgrade the VM first then the KSU.For example: if you have a KSU and a VM that are v.3.0 and you upgrade to v.4.1 on KSU it will not talk to the VM, however if you upgrade the VM. only to v.4.1 and leave the KSU at v 3.0 the VM will still talk to the KSU.

If all else fails either put the voice mail back on the 824 and reset it/then put it on the 0x32 and configure it/or last ditch effort open it up and cross the battery terminal with a needle nose it will reset for sure at that point. Im sure however that you will never hear that from nortel
