As part of my job, I have a Meridian (Northern Telecom) business phone in my apartment. I REALLY miss having a cordless phone in my life! I can't seem to find a cordless phone model that is compatible to split off of the business line. Someone recommended a "mobile data connector" from Radio Shack (what a joke!). Any ideas?????

Really need to know what model of phone you have.If you do not know the model number,then a brief description.

Well, there's a sticker on the bottom of the phone. It says:

M2018 Meridian, A0341584 RLS 01, NT1F07AC-35, 17608041.

A much smaller sticker below that reads:

025313

If this info is not helpful, please let me know how to go about getting the model #.

The M2018 is what I was looking for,but I have never heard of the M2018.Searched Nortels web site and found no related material.The M2000 series phones are digital sets,which means you cannot put an analog device(cordless,fax,modem)in line with them.I am asking around to see if anyone else has any info.On the M2006,M2008,M2616,M2317 you can purchase a cordless headset for them,but they are very expensive.

A friend of mine suggested something called a "digital to analog converter." Do you think that (whatever the hell it is) might work? Also, I once tried to split a DIGITAL cordless phone off the meridian line...it didn't work! Any ideas as to why that was unsuccessful?

The M2018 sounds like a small business multi-line digital Nortel phone. I assume you don't have a KSU/PBX in your apartment. I have used a digital to analog converter in the past on a Meridian Option switch and it worked good other that losing the ability to transfer, hold, etc. You may be able to use a converter. Give some details on your setup? Lines in, number of phones, processor and anything else that might help.

Hmmm...I have no idea what a KSU/PBX is. I have two M2018 phones in my apartment connected to the same line. I believe there's only 1 line in. Sorry if that's not helpful enough. Can u let me know how to go about getting some other info that might be helpful to you? I appreciate the effort! Thanks...I feel like I'm getting closer to the solution!

Try https://www.hellodirect.com and click on telecom accessories and then digital adaptors.They have a reconditioned adaptor for 39.99.This should allow you to use a cordless set.

OK, I read about the converter you mentioned, but it sounds like the same thing I used from Radio Shack that didn't work. How do know it'll work?

Can't make any guarantees.Your best bet would be to have your comm. people run an analog port into your house.I take it that you are in a campus style layout?
