Novice programmer with full system manuals. Can not find any programming step that ties a given trunk or line to the extension port(s) the VMI's for the 2nd party voice mail PC are connected to. Lines are set to prime ext 221 and whenever an unanswered call is forwarded to voice mail it rings 3 of the 4 VMI ports simultaneously. This then creates problems when one or more of the voice mail PC's analog inputs fail to release the extension.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated !!

This may be a simple fix for you lets say the voicemail is x300,301,302,303 - 4 ports
Have your calls forwarded to x300 and set 300 to forward to 301 if busy, set 301 to forward to 302 if busy etc. I know this not a dist. hunt but a sequential one.
This will ring one port at a time If I am understanding you correctly.
What kind of Voicemail are you using (integration)? Is there a reason you are not using Norstar VM? Let me know if this helps.

Boss had a "good" US Telecom PC based VM unit and wanted to unload it on his church as a "donation".
I did set the "forward on busy" to the next VMI port in sequence as recommended but this setting does not explain why 3 VMI ports ring the VM PC when 1 incoming call is routed to the VM PC. PC has a status screen you can view to confirm VM port status. Only 2 phones on the system have buttons to direct select the trunks. Even when the "forward on no answer" is removed from both of these extensions somehow the system still knows to route the inbound call to the VMI ports. Cant figure out where in the "trunk/line" programming this connection to the VMI ports are made?

Ok lets check this. Are you using ATA (Analog Terminal Adapters) on digital station ports for the VMI? Find your DN numbers. Each version of Norstar release programming is a little different but very similar. Enter Programming, Go and verify the DN have no ringing or appearances on them, make sure you check Line numbers 25+ etc depending on your line setup. Most are under LINE ACCESS and is indexed by DN. Have you checked this? Check this and let me know we will keep trying. Is your software T1 release 1?

This voice mail PC is made by US Telecom. It uses 2 dual port analog Dialogic boards that connect to the digital ports of the MICS with Nortel VMI modules. I have confirmed 3 ports on the Nortel VMI modules ring the Dialogic boards when only one incoming call is forwarded to the voice mail PC??????
