I'm learning the Norstar K/S and need some help. I have a NAM II REL 02 that lost power and will not start up again. I hear 2 beeps and, what sounds like, the hard drive continuously running.
Could this be a hard drive problem or maybe software problem? Any tricks to forcing the NAM to start.
Thanks
Tony

Tony, the nam could take up to 20 minutes to come up, first you get the two beeps then between 5 through 20 minutes you will hear a set of tones and it should be up

I'll give it 20 minutes. But, just to clarify I get the 2 beeps then the drive would start running, then the 2 beeps in about 30 - 60 seconds. That process continued for about ten minutes then -- I pulled the plug.
The card in slot 3 displayed some numbers while trying to boot. Please let me know if they mean anything: 35,P1,45,46,48,A6,4C. These numbers repeated as the system went through the above process of 2 beeps and drive – 2 beeps and drive. Appreciate the help

The LED lights on the VM should be 00 other numbers like 4c or ... are errors and that most likely to be a problem with the main board (SBC) not the hard drive.it has to be sent for repair .
Good Luck.

Thanks for the information. I plugged it in and went to lunch -- The VM would not boot up. I plan to order a hard drive, main board, and some tech manuals. This is an old system VM 2 so I wonder if I'll be spinning my wheels looking for the parts.
Any Sugestions?
Thanks
Tony

Does your NAM have a Monitor card in it? Can you hookup a key board and monitor? If you can you can isolate the problem with the unit. Was the problem strating after a storm or just a normal power outage?
Good Luck!!
If all else fails, use a BFH.

No, this system doesn't have a video card. No storm just a power outage -- not sure why the power was lost.
Thanks.
