Does anybody know what it takes to run a CAP mod.? Dumb question, I know. I have an 824 with DR-2 software, two 7324 phones and two CAP's. Cap on phone two quit working. . . it started by the button on the lower right corner (ext. 48) started to flash then locked out the phone. Replaced CAP and it cycled thru but never came up. Replaced phone and CAP, phone came up not the CAP. Checked voltage at the jack, 22vdc. Nothing in programming for CAP on DR-2 software. Any suggestions?

WHAT IS THE WIRING & PROGRAMMING PROCEDURES FOR A CAP MODULE

The Norstar® CAP module needs an external power source. A way of providing this source is by wiring in the VP324 24-volt DC power supply. In this example a 6 conductor modular jack is being used. The power supply can power two CAP modules. To connect second CAP module you will add another power pair to the 3rd pair on the 6 conductor modular jack. You can have a maximum of 5 CAPs “central answering positions” per system. The CAP can only be a 7324 and you can attach 2 CAP modules to a 7324.

WIRING:

1st KLM Power Pair
pin 5 Yellow -24 V
pin 2 Black Gnd

2nd KLM Power Pair
Pin 6 Blue -24 V
Pin 1 White Gnd

Good Luck!!

If all else fails, use a BFH.

So, what you are saying is there has to be 24 vdc at the jack and not 22vdc! The CAP was working fine until the lower right hand button started to flash and then locked out the CAP. Now even with everything being changed out to equiptment that I know works at my office it will not come back up.

22 is probably close enough. Verify the correct polarity on the power pair, it won't work if reversed.

The voltage must be between 22 to 26 volts, but I would do what Chuck said. I have replaced the power supplies before and reversed the polarity and it did not come up.

Good luck!!
