I am working on an Mics ver 3.0 with a 4 port startalk. T-1 incoming interface. When the Night service is activated by the user, The auto attendant plays an error message," You have entered an invalid extension code," then plays the night service menu, Is this being caused by the Service Provider XX&X outpulsing digits on the trunks toward the KSU ???

How do you have your night service set up? do you possibly have it going to a dn that is forwarded to voice mail, but does not have a mailbox set up. Might want to try and set your night service to the voice mail dn.

You must build the night service group under services. Simply forwarding an extension or lines to the voice mail extension will not work. Assign your lines to to a ringing group and assign the ringing group to the night service. Set the night service to manual activation and assign a night button to the operator console. You can also assign lines to ring under the AA programming of the voice mail. This is useful when you want callers to overflow to the voice mail during the day.

PROGRAMMING MANUAL NIGHT SERVICES
The following settings will enable the attendant (receptionist) to answer all calls during the day, these calls will ring at this station until answered. At night the attendant will press the NIGHT SVC button and the AA will then answer the lines. (Note: Change the control set for each DID trunk and all target lines to 'none'. By default these are set to port 101's DN - usually 221.)
ENTER THE TELEPHONE SYSTEM PROGRAMMING: Note: All incoming lines should appear and ring at the attendant station.
TERMINALS & SETS Select NEXT to SERVICES, show, RINGING SERVICES, show, RINGING GROUP, show. Enter 01 for the Ringing Group. Press SHOW. At the SHOW SET prompt select SCAN. If any extension such as default 221 is ASSIGNED you must UNASSIGN it. Then Press FIND. At the SHOW SET prompt enter the first station port of the voicemail. Do not assign any other ports, just the first port. This can be found by enter FEATURE 985 which displays the first voicemail port. Go back to RINGING GROUP and NEXT to SCHEDULE: NIGHT, and select SHOW. Service should be set to MANUAL (The default is OFF). Then press NEXT to TRUNK ANSWER makes sure it is set to YES. Then select HEADING and return to SERVICES and SHOW. Press NEXT to COMMON SETTINGS, press SHOW. At the prompt CONTROL SET, select SHOW. Make sure that the Control Set for each line is set to the extension you want to have the night button. Program Night Button Then go to the control extension. Press FEATURE * 3; press an available button, dial the night service FEATURE 871.
FLASH PROGRAMMING: Note: the greetings should be recorded and assigned to the table as you wish. Feature 983 and log in. Go to AA then LINES. SHOW the line 001. Then press TABLE, then RINGS. Make sure each line is set to 0 rings. Then go into Feature 982 and log in using OPERATOR as the password. ATTENDANT AVAILABLE: Y, BUSINESS OPEN: Y, ANSWER LINES: N, ATDT (none), change this to the attendant extension. If you would like the Auto Attendant to pick up unanswered lines during the day you will need to set the DRT (delayed ring transfer) TO PRIME to YES and the PRIME SET to the first port of the voice mail as per the following instructions.
TELEPHONE SYSTEM PROGRAMMING: TERMINALS & SETS NEXT to SYSTEM PROGRAMMING, SHOW. Press NEXT to FEATURE SETTINGS, SHOW. Then press NEXT to DRT to PRIME. Set to (Y)es. Press NEXT and set the DRT Ring Delay. Use your header button to back up to TERMINALS & SETS. Press NEXT to LINES, SHOW. Show line 001. TRUNK LINE DATA, SHOW. Press NEXT to PRIMESET: 221. Change the PRIMESET to be the first port of the voice mail. You will need to change the PRIMESET on each of the lines individually. Now outside calls will ring the attendant’s phone. In the event that the attendant cannot pick up the call within the ring parameter set in DRT to prime, the AA will then answer the call. At night when the attendant leaves, they will press the previously programmed Night Service button and the lines will be answered immediately by the automated attendant.
Good Luck!!
If all else fails, use a BFH.

Here we go for round two, I checked all the programming settings, We have E&M wink start trunks, No parameter for Control set under lines, When I set Prime set to None the KSU started to forget to answer some of the calls they would ring back to the caller, but the Operator set would not indicate an incoming call,Same thing when setting prime to vmail set 231. Yes all lines ring and appear to set 201.Voice mail port#1 is set 231.Under common settings control set is Operator console set # 201. AA Night service table 01 rings 0. ATTEND AVL Y BUS open Y :ANSWER lines ( When set to N system responds DISABLING ?? ) ATDT set 231. After changing the settings to the recommended previous and activating Night service from the operator set, I got a dram from XX&X" your call could not be completed" I watched the operator set display and placed calls from an outside line. The call would hit the KSU then route to Vmail, the call would immediately drop and I got the XX$X dram recording, What did I miss.

Are you sure your not getting digits with those E&M Wink trunks? By the way, why are you using E&M trunks vs. Loop start? Are your E&M trunks coming across a T-1?

I would have to agree with zman. It sounds like you are getting digits sent to you on the T1. Make sure you have T1 setup correctly.
How to Install a T1:
You must have either a Services Cartridge (slot 1) or a 6-port Combo card (slot 2) in order to provide clocking for the T-1. Only one of these is needed, even if you have two DTI cards. The DTI card should go into Slot 4 first. If you have a second card it would go into Slot 3. You must disable the card first, program the card for T1. Then re-enable the card.
To Disable / Enable Card: From Terminals & Sets – Next until you get to Maintenance – Show Next until get to Module Status – Show Show module – Next KSU (1): Next or State if using (2) cards KSU (2): State ( ) Ports Busy – Press Disable or Enable Disable at Once? – Yes Protocols & Signaling: Hardware – Show Show Module – Next Cards on KSU – Show Cd1 – KSU: Change to T-1 – Show Card Type T-1 – Next Lines: 001-024 – Next Protocol: SL1 – Next (Check with your Telco/Carrier for setting) Type Slave – Next Bchanseq: Ascend or Descend – Next (Check with your Telco/Carrier for setting) CO Fail: TIA–547A – Next IF Levels: ISDN – Next Framing: ESF – Next (usually ESF, check with your Carrier) Internal CSU: ON – Next {Need to have either an external CSU, or turn the internal one on. If customer needs to use some channels for data then they’ll need a CSU/DSU to split off channels before the 0X32. OR to split off data channels after 0X32 they’ll need a Nortel Data Interface (NDI) plus bandwidth allocation key codes} DSX1 Bld: 000-100 Line Coding: B8ZS (usually B8ZS, check with the Carrier) ClockSrc: Primary (second card would be secondary)
Re-enable the card in Maintenance now.
Channel Set Up: From Lines: - Show Line001:Line001 – Show (you’re entering your channel numbers here. If you’re using straight DID cards, then you’ll begin with ‘line’ 049) Trunk/Line data – Show TrunkType: E&M – Next Line type: Pool A - Next Dial Mode: Tone – Next PrimeSet: 221 – Next Auto privacy: Y – Next Ans Mode: Auto – Next Ans with DISA: N – Next Aux. Ringer: N – Next Signal: WinkStart – Next ANI number: N – Next End of List
Target Lines Programming: From Lines – Show Show LN: 145 – Show (target line range from 145-275 non-XC SW, 145-336 XC SW) Target LN – Next Private to: (extension number) – Next Rec’d #: (enter digits Telco is sending) – Next If Busy: to prime – Next PrimeSet: 221 change to the extension # - Next CLID Set: None – Next Aux. Ringer: N – Next
If all else fails, use a BFH.
