I'm not aware of Verizon doing anything to provide DSL through SLC96. One issue with SLC96 is that Verizon uses a good deal of integrated SLC96. On the older equipment there is no analog line appearance or channel unit in the C.O. The software options for the channels in the older equipment are pretty much POTS, coin, and some special. You pretty much serve 96 voice grade circuits. 3 years ago Verizon was beginning a push to upgrade some of the Alcatel Litespans (Alcatel's fiber fed pairgain equipment) to provide DSL. Is Verizon doing any FIOS deployment in your area. It's fiber to the premise. They’re doing a good deal of this type of work in my area.

Yes, Verizon is doing FIOS on a per-CO basis here. So far from what I can tell, it's only in the former Bell Atlantic territories though. I haven't seen any construction or deployment in the former GTE areas.
