I'm currently working on a Nortel Nam. User has 6 of 8 channels currently operational. They wanted to bump the number of channels to 12 and activate 4 channels which will bring the to 10 channels. I have received a maintenace card which sort of looks like a software card(but its not). I took the inside cover of the Nam off and inside on the card that carries the fiber connection there are 4 slots in two's for this kind of card. I was instructed to power off the nam and install the card into the top left slot. When I powered up the nam, after running it setup cylce. I got 2 beeps but no acception tone. Waited a couple minutes, and every feature would come back inactive. With not being able to get into vm could not enter the key code to activate the four channels. When it did not come up I powered the nam down brought it up without the card and it came back fine. Was I putting the card in the wrong slot. Is there a seperate keycode for the card installation. This is a major pain in the ass. Any help greatly accepted. By the way it dosen't seem that people do this very often. Basically what is the procedure am I missing something! Thanks

What you did is the correct steps. You should add The PEC(proceesor Expansion Card)in the upper left slot, and that will enable your system hardware wise to 16 channels, then you will need to add the key code,If you currentely has 6 channels, then you need 2 key codes, one from 6 to 8 channels, and another from 8 towhatever up to 16.If the system didn't cameback up after you installed the card, just try to reset the card again if its seated correctely ,then you have a deffective card, ask for replacement.I hope that helps.
Good Luck.

Thanks Sam,
I figured the card might be bad so I should be receving a new one. Just wanted to check and make sure I was not missing something. Will give another go this week. So far though this has been pretty nerve racking.
