I have a customer who has 7 sites with CICS Norstars and Flash 4 units. He just ordered and we installed a Callpilot 100 that is set up to emulate the Flash 4 so his employees use the same mailbox commands as his other sites. The password expiration feature is frustrating him and he wants it turned off so he's never prompted for a password change. Can this be turned off if the Callpilot is emulating a Flash 4 unit, or does changing the class of service only work when it's set up as a true CallPilot? If it can, I've been reading the posting by "Jack Damage" and "jsaad" on how to change the Class of Service via a LAN or direct connection. I've set the IP addresses and subnet mask successfully, can ping the CallPilot IP address OK using 192.168.110.10, but can't get to the menus for changing the class of service via the a browser. What is needed to complete the commnad https://192.168.110.10 ??? to get Call Pilot Manager to come up? Any passwords needed? Tx ------------------

I'm sure this has been discussed already, but are you folks using a cross-over cable? Do you get a link light on your Network Interface Card? And do you have the subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0? I'm surprised so many people are having trouble with this...

what you're doing is right but be sure that your LAN card is a 10/100 card and not simply a 10mb card. The callpilot only likes to connect to 100mb connections. that's my experience. before I got a 10/100 ethernet card in my laptop I brought a 10/100 switch to make the connection.

I am using a cross-over cable and a 100 Mb card. Subnet mask is OK. I can ping the Call Pilot, so I know I'm talking to it OK. Where I'm stuck is getting to any application or menu where I can create a new class of service. Is the application built into the Call Pilot, or is it a standalone application that reside on a server on the lan or connectiing PC?

To the best of my understanding, You simply type the IP address of the Call Pilot in the Address bar of the browser and Voila! You are supposed to be at the main screen.
FROM THE MANUAL: Connecting to the CallPilot Mini/CallPilot 150 To connect to the CallPilot Mini/CallPilot 150, you need the IP address of the CallPilot Mini/ CallPilot 150 and a connection to the network that the CallPilot Mini/CallPilot 150 is on. The default IP address for CallPilot Mini/CallPilot 150 is 192.168.110.10.
To use an Ethernet crossover cable, your computer must be equipped with a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet card and support TCP/IP protocol.
Use the following procedure to run the Quick Install Wizard: 1 Launch your browser. 2 In the URL address box, type the CallPilot Mini/CallPilot 150 IP address. For example: HTTP://192.168.110.10 The Quick Install Wizard screen appears. Depending on your system, this can take several minutes to appear. Note: You must include HTTP:// to access CallPilot Manager.
Hope this helps. It didn't help me!

Here is the part I've been crying about. It took me a while to find it. It should be self-evident, but I've had people tell me that the browser version doesn't matter.
Can someone who can do this verfy their browser version for me?
Every machine I have is 6.0 or <. My IT guy tells me that you cannot even download an earlier version of Explorer from MS.
FROM THE MANUAL:
Browser requirements To use CallPilot Manager you must have: • Java Virtual Machine 5.0 (build 5.0.0.3188 or later) • either Netscape Communicator 4.0.5 or later but not 6.0, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, but not 6.0 If you use Netscape Communicator, set the following parameters: • Enable Java: on • Cached document comparison: every time If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, set the following parameters: • Check for newer versions: every visit to the page • Java JIT compiler enabled: on For more information about these settings, refer to your web browser’s Help. If not all the CallPilot settings shown in this guide appear in your browser: • refresh the browser by clicking Refresh or Reload • upgrade your browser Note: CallPilot Manager Help is best viewed in Internet Explorer. There can be some page format inconsistencies if you use other browsers.
