Hello,

I would like to know how to specify the type of telephone set connected to the extension. We used to have a cordless phone hooked up to Ext. 25 and now I'm trying to connect a Norstar M7324 to it. Its not working (nothing shows on LCD and no lines/buttons working). When I connect the same phone to ext. 21, it works.

We have an old Meridian system in our office 30NSE04 DR-5.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Was the cordless connected through an ata? If so, remove the ata! You cannot tell the system what kind of set is installed.

Thanks for your quick response.

What does an ATA look like? Would this be closed to where the system is installed??

IT IS A GREY BOX ABOUT 5 INCHES BY 7 INCHES AND ABOUT 1 INCH THICK. IT HAS A BLACK POWER CORD AND A PLUG IN AT THE TOP FOR AN RJ11 PLUG. (STANDARD PHONE PLUG IN). IT WILL MOST LIKELY BE NEAR THE SYSTEM.

If you trace your jumpers from ext. 25 it should take you right to it.

Got it!! Thanks alot. I just searched the net for ATA's and got the picture.

Now, all I need to do is just disconnect both the RJ11 wires and connect them together using a RJ11 extender with female on both ends .. or connect main wire straight to the phone. no further programming required correct?
