Ok I am going to apologize in advance for this post please don’t flame me about how I need a certified tech to do this for me if you can’t help just move on to the next post. I am in the situation where my boss thinks that I’m an IT guy and obviously can do phones too (he’s cheap). I have read every manual I have for my ancient phone system. I think these are the specs:
Norstar: DR5 Startalk: v 2.0
I am trying to set up my AA, I am needing 5 options from my main menu. I have figured out how to set up my main CCR tree to transfer the line to an extension however I for one of my options I would like to be able to transfer to multiple extensions (example: press 1 for the next available salesman would ring all the sales phones). I do have an extension that was previously set up on the system before I got here that rings most of the phones that I am trying to access with this option. I guess the easy fix would be to add more phones to ring when this extension is dialed however I cannot see where this is set up anywhere. The last step would be to assign this extension to the CCR tree as an option.
Please any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance,
Travis

Sounds like "Answer DN", but I can't remember off the top of my head if DR5 had that feature. You said "I do have an extension that was previously set up on the system before I got here that rings most of the phones that I am trying to access with this option". Can't you just look at how that is setup and copy that programming? I know you don't want to hear "call a qualified vendor", but if you can't seem to do this yourself I'm afraid you'll have to at least consider it.

roldan is right, it does sound like there is an Answer DN appearing on some phones now. Answer DNs ARE avaiable in DR5. And, that is going to be the only way to make all of your "Sales" phones ring, with the software that you have. Another alternative would be to ring a chime in the Sales area, that could be answered with a Pickup key. ------------------ BCM Guy www.BCMguy.com Learn more about the Nortel Networks Business Communications Manager HERE !

I am looking at the extention that rings the sets in question and here is the data:
Line Assignment: ln1, ln2, ln3, ln4, ln5, ln6, ln7, ln8, ln10, & ln11
Answer DNs: No Answer DNs
Ringing: All lines set to ring
Line Pool Access; Line Pool A: Y
Intercom Keys: 2
Prime Line: PoolA
So it seems that there is no Answer DNs set up and that it would be something to do with the line pools is this correct?
Thanks in advance,
Travis

What you will need to do is program the extensions you want to ring with an answer DN of the extension that is currently set up. In other words, if you can already dial ext 22 and it rings several phones, program an answer DN for 22 in the programming for the other sets that you want to ring as well.
(added) It's not going to be the line pools, that only pertains to outgoing access. You're looking in the right place, just looking at the wrong extension.

Maybe I am wrong, but to me, it sounds like he sound be setting up a HUNT group. Press 1 for sales, then it goes to Hunt group 1. And then put all the sales extensions in Hunt Group 1. That should make all of their phones ring.
If CON is the opposite of PRO Then what is the opposite of Progress?

Your outside lines may be divided into 2 Hunt groups, but (with DR5 software) you can't configure Hunt groups internally (with groups of extensions). With your software, Answer DNs are going to be the way to go if you want to ring several phones at the same time. ------------------ BCM Guy www.BCMguy.com Learn more about the Nortel Networks Business Communications Manager HERE !
