I have a NAM that is intermittently giving a No Party to connect when trying to transfer a call to voicemail.

Caller calls in, user is busy or out of the office and receptionist hits F986 or vmtrsf button and gets No Party to Connect msg on the display and the call does not go to vmail.

Has happened on both consoles (7324 with cap). This has just started happening in the past week. No one is having trouble accessing mailboxes, only transfering calls with F986. Calls that are sent to the phone and forward no ans to vm are ok.
Any one know what might be causing this or know how to fix it.
NAM is fiber. Rel 4.1 KSU is MICSXC4.1 with PRI.
TIA.........Barb

When I first started reading your post I thought maybe it was just that all of the channels were busy, but if no one else is having this problem it seems unlikely. Is it just your call answer positions that are having this trouble or is it system wide. I wonder if there isn't some way to make F986 the priority function, although you'd think if there was a way to prioritize functions that F986 would be the default priority. Just out of curiosity, how many channels does the NAM have active. Regardless, I've never heard of this particular problem, although I know someone who may have an answer. I will sheck with him and get back to you.

Nam has 8 channels. Not problem with channels busy as calls are still able to go in with cfna. This does not happen every time.

What happens with the caller? Do they just stay on the line the whole time or are they getting put on hold when F986 is pressed?

The only info I could find out about intermittant feature codes is from a tech who had a problem with other feature codes (915,983 & 985). No mention of of feature code 986 specifically. Unfortunately in his case the hard drive needed to be replaced and he swears up and down that intermittant problems are usually a sign of more problems to come. Lets hope that's not your situation. If you could hook up a laptop and do a reboot as suggested and just see what happens that may shed some light on the error. You mentioned that this just started happening in the last week. Does your customer have access to the system administration, and if so, is there a chance maybe your customer changed something without realizing it.

They are pressing the feature 986 button first aren't they? I had a receptionist that from time to time would tell me it didn't work and it was because she was putting the caller on hold first. It has to be an active call.

This is a common (known) problem with Norstar Voicemails and CAP modules. I don't know of a fix for it but we have cleared the problem in the past by powering down both the KSU and the VM.

Thank you for the replies. Rebooted the NAM and so far the problem has not re-occurred.

We had recently had to replace a SAP for one of the consoles and shortly after this is when this problem started occurring. They had also had a power outage over a weekend and it was longer than the UPS would keep the system up so I can only assume that this had something to do with it.
