On the Nortel systems, can anyone tell me if you can make the a call coming in from a line ring different then a call coming from an Ext.

As telemarv said, the short answer is yes. I'm not sure what software level it came in on - maybe 4.1 or 6.1 ?

IF you listen closely, you can hear a difference. An outside line ringing, rings once every 5-6 sec. But an intercom call gives a double ring every 5-6 sec.

My internal's do ring ring pause ring ring pause... the externals do a ring pause ring pause.

I put CICS R6 in my house system to get different ring tones for each line so it went back that far and I think that was where it started.

I seem to remember the intercom always sounded different than the real lines back when I had R2. I am not absolutely positive, just about 85% or so.
