OK, I have plenty of solutions that include tying into an exsisting PBX, but this really needs to be a stand alone system.

I have an Aiphone system running on an assembly line currently. One end of the line is watching a video display of different points along the line and needs to contact an operator at the end of the line. The Aiphone is voice only (the video is a separate unit -with 14" monitors because they need to see a lot of detail) but signals a relay to fire a strobe when the station recieves a call.

Question is- what manufacturer supplies a product that will operate on its own and supply much greater volume to the people on each end than the Aiphone. It would be great to find an ampliphied handset to work with the Aiphone, but another line is going in so I need more handsets (and pull new wire) anyway. Speaker units do no good, they must be handsets. Also, the video changes between displays of different lines, so the handsets can't just be one to one, they must be able to press a key and contact someone at the end of another line

Thanks for any info you can send my way.

You might try Walker (1-800-Handset) for noise canceling transmitters for the Aiphone. I've done a lot of work in noisy clubs in the Philadelphia area, where bands play way to loud and communication from bar to management and security are an issue. Usually the problem is not the handset not being loud enough, it's the background noise going into the transmitter that causes hearing problems. Did you ever notice how if you cover the transmit part of a receiver you can hear better? Try it. Noise canceling handsets might be your solution.

My first thought was Walker or Clarity but the handset isn't a K or G style. I'll try calling Walker for a compatible transmitter.

Thanks, Mark S

I think noise canceling is the key, rather then amplifying.

Atlas/Soundolier makes a intercom system that may do the job but I would think a small slt system with amplified phones and noise canceling as Mark said would be your best bet

If it was built after 1980 don't expect it to work right.

Are you using the Aiphone handset units now? They make a multi channel version as well and there is a master volume control on the board. I find it cranks pretty good.

Thanks Guys, I'm having a unit picked up from the install (over a year ago for an old employer and I can't remember what units are there, and I didn't see a familiar pic on the Aiphone website), and I'll take it from there. The Atlas units look like they would hang on the four squares the Aiphones are mounted on now.
