Hi,
I have a Nortel system and cannot locate where my predecessors kept all the info.
System is working for now. I am trying to find out how to check a mailbox (any) from a different extension.
I would think this is a standard feature, but no one seems to know how to do it.
From what I can tell, its all Nortel. If someone can tell me where to look for rev and model numbers, I will gladly post. I would look now, but its in a very hard to reach location.
Thanks,
Dan

If you are ext-222 and from ext-222 you entered F981 the system asks you to enter a password for your mailbox. If you are at ext-333, you enter F981, your screen displays "Other", press that softkey. From the "log" prompt enter your mailbox number and password and you're logged in.

Also, you can substitute "*" instead of the "other" key that jwooten mentioned.

Cool, I will try in the morning. What about if you are offsite and dial in? Apparently there is a number that is forwarded (all calls) to a mailbox greeting. I can dial other extensions via this "back door". Is there some key or tone sequence that will allow me to access my mailbox?
Thanks,
Dan

If you are calling in from off site, when you hear the Auto Attendant, or if you called your own number, when you hear yourself saying you are not there, then hit * * (star-star) Then you will need you mailbox and password combination.

This is great...
Hey, I also have several offices connected back to our site. I only have one number that can go into the auto attendant, is there a way to access their mail box?
I believe each site has their own vmail system, however it is the same. The sites were treated as seperate entities when this was intstalled.
We can transfer from the main site, but no one knows how to access them remotely.
Thanks,
Dan

As stated above you press ** to access any nortel voice mail from a remote location.

What systems are you using in your remote offices?

The ** only works for the mailboxs at the main location. It will not access the others. It also does not see the others in the directory.
All I know right now is its Nortel. I cannot locate ANY paper work. If someone could tell me where the numbers are located, I will gladly post them. This is the first Nortel I have dealt with, can you tell.
Thanks for all the info so far, its been very helpfull.
Thanks,
Dan

To make sure you are using the same terms as we are. When you access the remote mail boxes, you have to CALL THAT site's phone number. When their mailbox or AA answers - THEN you hit ** . Is that what you were doing? You can't be "IN" your system and access THEIR mailboxes.

All the numbers are directed to our main site. I took a chance and tried on of their numbers last night thinking the system would recognize it differently. Still not able to access their site.
Im thinking its a lost cause.
