I have a question about a Norstar 8x24 with startalk and vm port is station 260. I was asked about a specific station (218) but I think all stations with vm may be doing the same thing. Unless Feature 986 and Ext # is used to transfer calls to his mb all his unanswered or busy calls go to the general mb instead of his private mb. I have checked Norstar programing and it is programmed to go to 260 for unanswered or busy calls.
The president of this company wants all calls answered imediately and leaves the nite transfer on all the time to pick up after 3rd ring. He then has his own message saying "If you have reached this message during normal business hours we are experiencing unusually heavy call volume". While on premise yesterday I didn't think before I left to try turning off the nite service for a few minutes and then try it.
Do you think I'm on the right track or is there something else I could try? If that is it does anyone know a way around it?

are you sure your station 260 is the vm port to be sure do feature 985 on any set it will display the proper vm dn.cause if you can do feature 986 and it goes to vm it doesnt sound like a vm issue but more more like a programing issue check the vm port i'm sure thats where your problem stands

Could possibly be that there is no extension entered in the ext field. If no extension is entered there then a call forwarded from 218 would go to gen del. If you do have an extension there then You could possibly have an answer dn for set 218 set up on a phone with no vmail box attached that forwards before the set with the vmail box. Hmm hope that wasnt too confusing

The auto-attendant uses the ext entry to transfer to the phone. If no ext is entered the AA will transfer direct to the mailbox.
F986 uses the mailbox number only.
CFNA, CFB all use the ext entry of a mailbox. If the mailbox has no ext, CFNA/CFB will go to the GDMB. If GDMB is disabled the call will go to the AA prompt.

I went back this afternoon and things weren't quite as I was told. Vm is station 260 ( that didn't change) and internal calls go there as they should. I checked Norstar programing and both his ext # (218) and his private line are programmed call forward busy and call forward don't answer to 260 (which is as it should be). I disabled the AA for a short while to see if that made a difference but it didn't. Calls to his private number are still going to the General delivery mail box when not answered.

I've had problems when I program CFW busy. JUst program CFW no answer and test. It forwards on either no answer or busy with it programmed that way.
