I am trying to sell a customer on a CICS with SW6.0. Nothing fancy, just 4 Co lines and 6 phones. They are needing the new system to have a "Night service" mode. They have a part time receptionist and would like to be able to redirect the rings to 3 office phones when the receptionist is gone. Normally only the receptionist phone rings. I understand CFNA but would need more than one Call FWD phone to ring. I am not familiar with setting up hunt groups.

You have 3 choices...
Use a night ringing service button that will change the ringing pattern.
or
Set up a hunt group (sorry) and manually call forward the reception phone to the hunt group when nescessary.
or
Use an AA when receptionist is gone.

Just go into the hunt programming. (you must have at least 3 digit DN numbers - example: 221, 222 and not 21, 22) Then pick the first hunt group. It will tell you what DN that group is. Just guessing - maybe 701. Then you select Members and put in the DN's that you want in that group. While at that point, check whether you want Appear&Ring or just Ring. IF A&P then a button will show up on the phone for that hunt group. IF Ring Only, then their intercom will light up when ringing. Then on the receptionist's phone, You can either do a CFNA to that hunt group DN. But then calls would not go to her VM unless F986 was used. OR when she is done for the day, she can do a manual Fwd to the Hunt DN. This latter way she could get VM during the day, but calls would go to hunt group at nite only. The first way is auto all day long.

FYI NT hunt groups are appear&ring or appear only. Ring only is not an option. In either case you will get a button on the phone.

I just checked out the Ver. 7 CD to see if I was correct or wrong.
It says that hunt groups can be:
Ring Only
Appear&Ring
Appear Only.
It also shows the three options in the programming record book.
I didn't give the Appear Only option cause.....Why be in a hunt group and your phone does not ring??
I am sure there is a reason somewhere. But the Ring Only does not take up a button. It should ring on your intercom button.
