The super cap inside the software cartridge has gone bad.
You can either replace the cap or the cartridge or put a UPS on the system to keep it running during blackouts.

Yes, you will definitely have to solder the replacement super capacitor in. It looks like a stack of nickels wrapped in plastic, usually green. The problem is that you will need to power the system down when you do this, resulting in another loss of data. You should back the system up, replace the cap and once you are done, upload the stored database.
With any phone system, you should have a UPS, but even that won't help you until you replace the capacitor. Once you have done this, and you have a UPS in place, you probably won't have to worry about this issue again.

Does anyone know why they have never made a key system with the ability to use regular back up batteries (they run ten times longer than the same batteries in a UPS)?
Their big PBXs all have it, why not a key system?
Toshiba and Samsung all have it and it is a great selling point.
