We have picked up a customer who has a Nortel CICS system. It was installed & serviced by a vendor that went out of business. I've worked on these systems many times and know the system pretty well but the password was changed by the out-of-business vendor. Is there an override password or a way to get the password back to default without defaulting the system? Any help on this would be much appreciated.

You could reset it with a RAD.

Thanks for the info. I am not familiar with a RAD in the Nortel world. I know it as a recorded answering device.

I would default it by draining the super-cap, there should not be much data in a CICS to redo.
If you need instructions, send an e-mail.

As far as I know in order to program using the RAD you have to enter the password just as if you were sitting down in front of the phone at the site unless you know something I don't, in that case please email me.
Thanks Dan S

The system has NEVER prompted me for a password for RAD...Unless an Individual RAD password was set. Do the [Feature] [9?] command to setup RAD.

There are only two ways to re-set the installer passwords. 1. Going into installer programming using the installer password. 2. Do what Bunnie explained.
Sure you can use the RAD (and it does not have to be set-up with any passwords) but once you have established communications and you have the picture of the 7310 on your lap top or PC you enter programming as if you were at a physical 7310 phone. The installer password has to be entered in KCPMain case it has been changed.

There is a 3rd method using F**DEBUG.
But you need to know the debug password (which changes everyday) and the location in memory of your particular version of software.
