There's been a recent concern about recruiters looking up the names of employees, through our company directory.

We would like to maintain the ability to lookup names, but would like the callers to enter a minimum of 3 letters before a name is looked up. Is this even possible?

I have looked everywhere, and can only find the option to remove names from the directory. This obviously won't do.

We have a BCM 3.7 and CallPilot

Welcome to the forum. We like to know a little more about the people we are helping and their ability level. Could you please complete your profile.

Call Pilot works on first 4 letters entered, not sure of your question. You can't change that. Actually all someone has to do is enter a name and then they can toggle through the entire directory just by pushing 1.

I was reading the post from sevanaleej the other direction. He WANTS it to NOT work until they enter at least 3 characters. Did I read you wrong sevanaleej? I do not know of anyway to make it a min of 3 char. All someone has to do, and I have done that trying to get someone to answer the phone, is to just type 2# which equals everybody that starts with A,B,C. Then cycle through with the 1. If no answers, try the 3#, etc...

Built in dial by name directory can be turned off. It has both benefits and as we see above disadvantages.

Actuall NTLayoff, if you press 1 when you get into the directory you can cycle through all listed names, instead of having to go through each key separately.

sevanaleej - There is no way of forcing the number of characters that a caller must enter. The directory can be turned on or off, and specific users can be left out of the directory based on the setting in their mailbox setup, but that's it.

You could also enter ## and it would play the directory listings from the first name alphabetically (Last name- that is)... and then enter 1 to cycle through.
