Have a Norstar 824-DS w/ a Nam 4 port V.M. Have a phantom mailbox that I want to outdial to a cell phone whenever a call comes to this mailbox. There are no restrictions on the lines or DN of the V.M. port. Whenever a call is transferred to the mailbox through the auto attendant, it goes right to the mailbox greeting. I cant get it to transfer to cell phone number.

Need Help!!! Thank you.

srd1, please fill out your profile.

With this setup, the caller would have to press "7" to be transfered.

Watch out for toll fraud!

You'll have to be a little more specific. Are you looking for external notification or external transfer?

External transfer is only automatic from a CCR transfer point. Some versions of NAM software allow the caller to press 7 to dial an external number, but there are parameters that must be set up in the phone system to allow this.

External notification must be allwed in the mailbox setup.

BCM Guy is right - you would need to use Outbound Transfer to have the call redirected. Make sure that the class of service for the mailbox allows Outbound Transfer, and that you have programmed an outdial for the mailbox.

To ensure that the customer is not a victim of toll fraud I recommend that you create a long distance filter and apply it to the voicemail DN.
