You are probably thinking you secured your voice mail to stop the hacker but not your own phone so why doesn't it work? Because outbound traffic on the voice mail is through the VM port not your phone. Remove the security on the voice mail port and it will work for every mailbox.
You didn't get dial tone because you secured your system. That's a good thing.

I didnt secure the voicemail port. I turned off outbound dialing on extensions that didnt require it, and made sure passwords were changed to something a little more secure than what they had been.

Did you put in a line pool, destination code of line flash (#) before the 1167?

I set my voicemail up previously to use outbound dial, so yes it has a pool. and No I didnt put anything prior to 1167. Thats all the SMDR displayed so thats what I was trying. How would I enter a #?
